Our mission is to grow and market local, certified-organic products from member farms in a co-operative and sustainable way.

We bring to market the triple hit of fresh, local, and certified-organic. Plus, we offer the variety and diversity of produce and meats from several small family-run farms.
 

We recently received the Premiers Award for Innovation Excellence in Agriculture. This is to recognize the unique way our farmers produce and market meats, vegetables and fruits. This includes the recognition for our efforts to educate consumers, bring new farmers to organic agriculture and to increase organic production.

• The customers buy direct from the farmers. It is farmers who sell the meats and produce, and they build a close relationship with customers, responding to requests
• Produce is picked fresh on the day of, or on the day before, sale at market
• Meats are supplied frozen as prime cuts, or sometimes fresh in the case of lamb
• All food is local and assembled from individual farms; it is transported in dedicated, clean vehicles anywhere from just a few kilometres up to around 150 kilometres (or 100 miles) direct to market
• All member farms are certified-organic and so are their products
• All farmers use sustainable crop, livestock and soil management practices and are inspected annually for verification of their certified-organic status

We believe this co-operative system works both for the farmers (in the pooling of resources and the maximization of sales), and for the consumer and food establishment, who are offered a wide assortment of specialized fresh, in-season, local, certified-organic produce and meats direct from the source. The interaction of farmers and consumers builds a better understanding of food, and the way it can be grown and sold in a sustainable and fair way.
